Like Button vs Share Button

The cold days are upon us, which if you’re anything like me, drives us towards those tasks we can do in our comfy cozy clothes with a cup of something hot in our hands.  Time to put some more focus on our websites and Facebook!

You’ve likely noticed that Facebook  has a new “Share” feature and are perhaps wondering what it’s for and whether you need to update your website to include it.

“Share” was introduced for bloggers and websites to include on their sites so that readers/clients/customers could not just show their friends that they liked the site/post but include comment. How many times have your read something terrible and wanted to interact but the word “like” just didn’t seem appropriate.  Now you can “share” the story or product and include your own commentary.  More importantly your customers can do this.

These screenshots show you the difference between a like vs a share:

It’s great that I’ve let my friends know about this article — but maybe I’m offering no insight, maybe I’m trying to share something I think is terrible – perhaps I’m over the moon in love the with the article – who knows.

Renny on the other hand shared the above article and was able to let his friends know how awesome it was.

If you already have a Social Media plugin on your website (assuming you’re using WordPress) then there’s a good chance that the Share button has already been added via an update.  If you don’t have a Share button now would be a good time to add it and start encouraging your readers to Share.

If you found this article – please share it!
