What Does The Way You Run Your Company Say About You?

The way that you manage your business may actually say a lot more about you than you thought so watch for some of these things that may be sending the wrong message.

Messy Desk vs Clean Desk – Say what you want about a person with a messy desk. These types of people are usually a lot more in tune with their feelings and are more likely to have better relationships within the office and with clients. People with clean desks are typically a lot more organized and like to get down to business. These types of people might not like small talk as much but they are very reliable and trustworthy people.

Phone Calls vs emails – People who spend a majority of their day on the phone tend to be a lot more social and interactive. They enjoy meeting people and trying new things. They are very friendly and can’t go anywhere without striking up a conversation with a stranger. People who mostly send emails aren’t quite the opposite although they do tend to be a little more introverted. These types of people are very methodical and like to follow systems. They are resistant to change and work best with a schedule.

Cancelling/Rescheduling/Showing Up Late for Appointments – You may not be able to make an appointment because you are just so successful and busy all the time. Whatever your reason for not being able to make an appointment you set does not make you look good in the eyes of the person you were intending to meet. Missing your appointments makes you look unreliable and if the person you are meeting needs deadlines met, it doesn’t make you stand out as the person who is going to meet them.

Community Involvement – There are two major reasons why large corporations donate to charities: for tax credits and to improve their image. That’s because the charitable organizations or community events you and your business are involved in, say a lot about your business. The more community activities you participate in shows how much you value your employees. The more involved you are, the more you care about your employees and the more loyal your employees will be to you.

Set Working Hours vs Flexible Hours – If you work 9-5 every day as opposed to a more flexible schedule, it says a lot about your attention to deadlines. The rigid hours usually mean that you are reliable and will submit things on time right before a deadline whereas a more flexible schedule means you are more likely to work on things when you feel like it and may finish it way before the deadline, and you may finish it after the deadline.

Doing work immediately vs just in time – Some people just work better under the pressure of a looming deadline but the timing of when you submit things also says a lot about you. Working on something right away when you receive a new task sometimes means that you have a shorter attention span. These types of people work best with a number of shorter tasks or projects whereas people who tend to submit things at the last moment are most likely procrastinators who are bad a time management. People who submit things a day or two before the deadline are the best people for working on longer tasks or projects as they will make the most of their time.

Soft touches – Sending thank you notes, or Christmas cards not only shows how much you value your clients but also that you are a loving and sensitive person. Businesses that send out some sort of soft touch are known to never give up on something and are focused on providing great customer service.
